Plunge
The breeze caresses my face,
as I soak in my surroundings.
Down below the ripples bob constantly,
moving in a direction known only to them.
Anxiety surges in me like jolts of electricity.
Twinging every pore of my body.
I stand defiant, vertigo can’t stop me now.
Gulping in a few breaths I take the plunge.
Ready for the chill to hit me at any moment.
SPLAT!
The ripples stop moving,
there has been a break in the surface.
Everything comes to a still.
A car is now in need of a new rooftop,
and the erasure of human remains.
There are murmurs all around,
eyes watching in complete disbelief.
No emotes can describe the shock etched on every face.
I just don’t get it.
They should be cheering, celebrating even.
As another soul successfully escapes into the great beyond.
